White WillowThe bark of white willow contains a chemical called "salicum", which was used to break fevers, soothe headaches and reduce pain and swelling in arthritic joints. The synthetic equivalent of this chemical is "acetyl salicylic acid", also known as aspirin. However, willow bark does not have the negative effects of aspirin on the digestive system, as it contains tannins. Note: The information provided is for educational purposes only.
