Calendula

Latin Name: Calendula officinalis

An Annual. Culinary and Medicinal: Edible yellow flowers bloom all summer into the fall. Infuse flower petals in a carrier oil to use on mature skin and other skin related problems. Calendula is excellent for topical applications. It is antiviral and antifungal, and promotes the healing of skin damaged through anything from cuts, abrasions and burns to bacterial skin infections, herpes, insect bites, hemorrhoids and varicose veins. The active portion of calendula is the flowers.
