Bloodroot

Bloodroot contains an alkaloid known as sanguinarine, which stimulates respiration and increases saliva flow, blood pressure and peristalsis in the intestines. This can aid in chest infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia. In addition, some cancers, such as skin and breast cancer, have been treated using this herb, as have ringworms and warts.
