Eucalyptus Globus

Botanical Name: Eucalyptus globulus
Family: Myrtaceae
There are many Eucalyptus oils: Eucalyptus Lemon, (E. citriodora); Dives/Peppermint, (E. dives); Blue Mallee (E. polybractea); Grey peppermint, (E. radiata); Gully Gum, (E. smithii) and many more.

Constituents: Cineole, Pinene, Globulol, Camphene, Limonene, Pinocarvone
Aromatic Properties: balancing, cooling, invigorating, stimulating
Aromatic Description: Fresh, medicinal, woody, earthy.
Blends well with Camphor, Cajeput, Eucalyptus Lemon, Lavender, Peppermint, Pine, Rosemary, Tea Tree.
Usage: bath; massage; vaporisation; disinfectant; and insect repellent.

Possible Uses: Arthritis, bronchitis, catarhh, cold sores, colds, coughing, fever, flu, poor circulation, sinusitis, acne, analgesic, animal bites, antibacterial, antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, asthma, athlete's feet, bedbugs, bleeding gums, blisters, burns, candida, chapped lips, colds, cuts, cystitis, dandruff, decongestant, deodorant, diabetes, diarrhea, disinfectant, diuretic, drug withdrawal, ear infections, earaches.

Safety Information: Very toxic when taken orally (no essential oil should be taken internally without the guidance of a qualified aromatherapy practitioner). No special precautions when using this oil. Do not use with homeopathic remedies; may irritate sensitive skin; and do not use on babies or young children.

Clearing properties make this oil a useful chest rub. This essential oil is extracted from the leaves by steam distillation. Eucalyptus is a powerful antiseptic, widely used in baths and message during the cold season. Blend oil in chest rubs and use in burner in sick room.
