Clove Bud (Absolute)

Botanical Name: Eugenia caryophyllata
Family: Myrtaceae
Country of origin: Indonesia
Common Method of Extraction: Steam Distilled
Color: Light Golden Yellow
Consistency: Medium, Slightly Oily
Perfumery Note: Middle
Strength of Initial Aroma: Strong
Constituents: Eugenol, eugenyl acetate, caryophyllene, isocaryophyllene.
Aromatic Description: Spicy, warming yet slightly bitter, woody, reminiscent of true clove buds, but richer.
Aromatic Properties: refreshing, soothing, stimulating, vitalizing
Blends well with Rose Otto, Lavender, Clary Sage, Bergamot and Ylang Ylang.

Possible Uses: Arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, rheumatism, sprains, strains, toothache, antiseptic, colds, deodorant, diuretic, headaches, influenza, insect repellent, migraines, moth repellent, oily skin.

Safety Information: Mucous membrane and dermal irritant. Avoid in alcoholism, in haemophilia, in prostatic cancer, with kidney and liver problems and if taking anticoagulants. This oil may cause skin and/or mucous membrane irritation as well as dermatitis. This oil should be used in moderation and in dilution of less than 1 percent.

Clove bud is a warming oil, traditionally used against toothache, but now more likely to be used in the bath or in a massage blend. Use only in a dilution of 1% or less. Warm spicy aroma. Antisceptic properties.
