Basil – Essential Oil

Botanical Name: Ocimum Basilicum
Family: Labiatae
Usage: bath; vaporisation; and insect repellent.
Caution: do not use during pregnancy; may irritate sensitive skin.

It is extracted from the flowering tops by steam distillation.

Basil oil is relatively high in Methyl Chavicol which is moderately toxic, can be irritating to the skin and may be carcinogenic.

Basil is a nerve tonic and is used for mental fatigue. Vaporise it with rosemary while studying for a test/exam.

Basil invigorates body and spirit; helps to refresh the mind allowing improved concentration.
