Water Therapy: [also known as Hydrotherapy]

The Greek term for water is "hydro" and hence the word, Hydrotherapy. Water therapy is the use of water to improve health or rehabilitation through exercises performed in water. There is also water application therapy developed by Kneipp of hot (vasodilation) or cold (vasoconstriction): showers, baths or wraps. In modern applications include underwater jet massage, or mineral baths, especially form natural mineral waters. These fluctuations in temperature serve to stimulate the immune system and the body's inherent healing power. This has been a long-time staple treatment in Europe, greatly influenced by Romans and their use of public baths, of which some can still be found. This was the first type of treatment used by Nature Doctors across Europe, other than Herbs-which is the oldest form of medicine. This ancient therapy advocates the therapeutic uses of water in treating many conditions, and in self-healing.
