Surgery comes from the Greek word cheirourgia - "hand work." The medical specialty that treats diseases or injuries by an operative manual and instrumental treatment. Surgeons are medical practitioners who specialize in surgery. Surgery is almost as old as Herbal Medicine, which is the oldest form of medicine.
