Macrobiotic Diet:

Macrobiotics (from the Greek "macro" (large, long) + "bio" (life)) is a lifestyle that incorporates a specific dietary regime. The word was first coined by Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland of Germany with his book, "Makrobiotik oder Die Kunst, des Menschliche Lebens zu Verlängern" (Macrobiotics, or the Art of Extending Ones Life), in 1796. This is a naturally low-fat, high-fibre diet of whole grains, vegetables, sea algae, and seeds, that are prepared in accordance with specific principles; to synchronize eating habits with the cycles of nature. This diet has been adapted or modified to treat various conditions to varying degrees of success.
