The use of essential oils (extracts or essences) from flowers, resins, herbs, and trees to promote health, well-being, vitality and rejuvenation of the body, mind and spirit. Essential Oils are sometimes referred as the 'soul essence' of a plant, as what is extracted is not the chlorophyll but the very essence of the material itself. It ia a system of caring for the body with essential oils. These essential oils can be added to a bath, massaged through the skin, inhaled directly, used with teas, or scented in a room. This therapy is intended to relieve pain, care for the skin, treat mental, emotional and physical ailments and alleviate tension and fatigue. The oils are generally diluted, then used topically, internally, or to stimulate olfactory senses. Essential oils are also used to create incense and true perfume fragrances, or other toiletries. Aromatherapy refreshes and relaxes the skin while soothing the mind by helping to induce a sense of well-being. Each individual essence is used to produce a specific beneficial effect.
